IFA – A Professional Approach Grounded in the Animal’s Needs
IFA – Feline Activities & Behavior: Positioning of Our Approach
In the Czech Republic, two main approaches to working with animals and humans are currently emerging.
The approach represented, for example, by IVVAAS is primarily based on human-service professions, where the animal is part of a human-led intervention.
The approach of International Felinotherapy Association is primarily based on expertise in working with the animal.
Our foundation includes:
• ethology and animal behavior
• welfare and species-specific needs
• training and learning processes
• the ability to read subtle animal signals
This approach is closely aligned with international behavior-focused organizations such as International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants and Animal Training Academy.
At the same time, we respect the framework of International Association of Human-Animal Interaction Organizations, which is primarily built on human-service professions.
IFA does not position itself in opposition to other approaches.
It represents an independent professional axis focused on working with the animal as a sentient being.
We believe that high-quality practice emerges from the integration of both approaches.
And we are committed to developing the one that is often underrepresented.
